Dear fellow Mensans and friends,
We invite you to our annual
15th ski-weekend organized by Mensa Slovenia.
This year’s venue is Cerkno from
19th to 24th January 2017.
Both national and international Mensans, their families and friends are invited to join this event and spend quality time with us, as it is one of the largest events organized by Mensa Slovenia - thus far hosting members from France, Serbia, Sweden, Croatia, Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Romania, United Kingdom, USA and others.
Although the main idea around the event is skiing, approximately one third of the participants each year attend the gathering for other purposes, whether it is for socializing or meeting new people, going for walks or indulge themselves in spa centers etc.
Ski Resort Cerkno
The Ski resort Cerkno is situated at the margin of the region Gorenjska, where already the region Primorje begins. It is the most modern and at the same time the most user-friendly ski resort in Slovenia. The skiing area is open to skiers of all ages and categories, in case of lack of snow there are snow-making machines and also tracks for cross-country skiers exist. Special attention is given to the youngest skiers, so there are many activities available to them. At the top of the ski centre there is an alpine style self-service restaurant with a visitor's terrace, which offers diverse dishes based on local ingredients.
Excellent ski slopes, the most modern and safest skiing facilities, qualitative offer of additional services, at the head with the alpine restaurant Alpska perla at the top of the Skiing centre are the main reasons for being the best Slovenian Ski resort in 3 seasons 2010/11, 2011/12 and 2012/13 as voted for by visitors and at the same time they again received the Award for family-friendly ski resorts.
The ski centre Cerkno devotes great attention to families with children. In close vicinity to the top of the ski centre there is a polygon with a carpet lift and a roundabout. The Kids can be at the warm kindergarten either alone, in the company of their parents or the resorts nannies and play, draw, watch TV – do a lot of interesting things, which will make your ski holidays an unforgettable experience.
At the ski centre Cerkno you can hire world famous skies and snowboards of high quality and all categories, for beginners, advanced and expert skiers. As part of the hire service they also offer a repair of your equipment.
The unique location and culinary delights of the alpine Restaurant at the top of the ski centre satisfy even the most demanding guest. Throughout the year special attention is given to local specialties, which are based on local ingredients.
Hotel Cerkno****
The hotel is situated in the centre of the town Cerkno and seems more like a family hotel with its pleasant atmosphere than one that can accommodate up to 180 guests in modern rooms with balcony or air condition. Facilities include an indoor thermal-water swimming pool, saunas, fitness, tennis, a conference hall. The hotel is an excellent starting point for hiking and discovering this area by your bike. There are also many marked hiking and biking trails in the vicinity of the hotel and countless opportunities for hunting, fishing, horseback riding, paragliding, climbing in an variegated landscape.

The prices for the beds are valid till the 30th of November 2016. The prices include half board (breakfast and dinner) and access to the thermal pool. Bunk beds can be ordered without dinner (only breakfast), the price for the bed will be 25 €. Applications after the previous mentioned date will be possible if there will be free capacities in the hotel.

• children from 6 – 12 years, sleeping on an additional bed: - 50 %
• children from 6 – 12 years, sleeping on a regular bed: - 30 %
• children from 12 - 14 years, sleeping on an additional bed: - 25 %
